CareYaya client families are responsible for paying the caregiver directly in cash or check at the end of the care session.

How Payment Works Through CareYaya

CareYaya connects families with caregivers to provide elder care. We do this free of charge, with no upfront contracts or subscription fees, as a public service to the citizens of North Carolina to expand access to affordable elder care. At time of booking, client families typically leave us a “tip” in the amount of 5% to 15% of the money they’ve saved booking through CareYaya compared to using other elder care options.

Your voluntary contribution helps us stay alive and continue to provide service, and also supports technology innovation to improve elder care in North Carolina. For families in financial hardship, we happily offer care booking services for a 0% tip.

Please note: While the CareYaya site is free to use with voluntary tips, the caregivers actually need to be paid! In order to save you from credit card & transaction processing fees, CareYaya allows the family to pay the caregiver directly. Most families pay in cash or check, or Venmo (free peer-to-peer payments) or some other mutually agreeable payment method. At the end of your care session, please make sure to pay the caregiver the appropriate amount based on their hourly rate and hours served. Thank you!
